What would you like to do that you think that you must be rich to do?
That you can do poor?
Like to rest when tired, and eat when hungry?
What life goals can you do now by giving up, and letting go?

Be able to retire at some point.
Afford to help pay for college for my kids.
Be able to pay healthcare costs if I get sick.
Be able to hop half way cross the planet on a moments notice.
Penniless as I am, I do have 80 acres which I would like to build a retreat center on.
I have many years of expertise in retreats, lots of experiences, and have designed one right down to minute architectural details.
I’ve gotten with individuals who can help finance and run it—but I don’t want to forfeit my land nor give up control of the retreat center. It’s my vision, people like it, and I don’t want a lot of people with money undoing it or pulling the rug out from under me,
Unless I am wealthy, like, winning a BIG lottery—or someone donates a lot of money, it will never happen. I cannot own it if I do not finance it.
Basically the only thing that comes to mind is to spend more time with family. Having more free time to play would be amazing.
It’s tough because I see so much work to be done instead of joy to be experienced. I’m going to work on that.
@Yellowdog If you are so poor how do you pay the yearly taxes on that 80 acres?
Its only about $200 a year. Paid quarterly isn’t that bad.
I find myself in the predicament of being afraid to build on it. If I cannot afford a house (right now I definitely cannot) what would happen to the land if I lose the house?
@Yellowdog Eventually sell +/- 40 acres to preserve the rest, like many farms now. :( I hope not.
I’d take my wife and do the Frank Sinatra bit. “Come fly with me, let’s fly, let’s fly away, if you’re into exotic booze, there’s a bar in Old Bombay”... Must be freakin’ nice.
On edit, we aren’t the
Jet Set, more like the Old Chevrolet Set. : (
