Can the dust from my portable fan be causing my headache?
I cleaned it the best that I could. There is so much caked on dust.
I have the fan on the head of my bed to cool my head.

It may be the draught from the fan that is giving you a headache. Why not open a window to stay cool at night?
@flutherother Ok. Thanks. March should be ok to open a window with out breaking my pipes.
If it’s that cold you could just turn the heating down in your bedroom.

Amazon has a thing called the Carex Bed Buddy Sinus Pack. I had linked it but didn’t realize that it links to my Amazon account. It’s an ice pack for your head.
I get sinus headaches from moving dust, you might need a new fan if you can’t clean the one you’ve got.
Try adding a negative ion generator.
If you think that dirt on the fan is a problem, clean it better. Moist towel. Some sort of spray cleanser. It is hard to believe that the dirt is to caked on that it is not removable.
Dirt aside, the sound of the fan – low pitched or high pitched rumble – may be subtly affecting your sleep or your ears.
The fan itself is not the source of the dust, if the dust is what is causing the problem. Get some kind of air cleaner that cleans the air in the room, like a water fountain.
^ Yeah. You could point the fan at a wet towel (not too close) and dust in the air will get stuck on the towel, which you can then wash down the drain or launder.
Yes, the dust from your fan can cause you headaches. It could cost you sore throat and blocked nose as well. All these are symptoms of dust allergy. The only way you can be free of them (aside not using your fan) is – clean the fan thoroughly. Then, keep the fan clean and dust free by giving it the good ol dustoff every week.
