Why do you go to Starbucks?
I worked there as a Barista, register, calling out your name incorrectly, you name it. Honestly, it’s so overpriced. The only reason I went there is because I knew the employees (my coworkers) and because the tables were clean for studying/ work. Oh and the unlimited refills with the card. Since pandemic started, I just drink instant coffee. It’s cheaper and faster in our situation, but I still see some neighbours driving out 10 mins to go get that overpriced coffee.

I haven’t been to one since long before the pandemic started.
I pretty much only go there when traveling and I don’t know of the convenient location of a better alternative. Or when I’m with someone else who wants to go there (usually for the “known experience that isn’t fast food hell and should have a clean bathroom”, or because there is a known thing they want from there despite the price). I would rather avoid Starbucks because it is expensive and they’ve long since lost the ability to make actually good coffee that I might be willing to pay that much for. I make much better coffee at home. And many independent espresso shops make much better coffee.
Or I’ll go there to use it as a place to meet and/or sit and work on something.
Because I like sitting in a nice place looking at people and reading my book some Saturdays from 8 to 5 while having just one cup of coffee and no one bothers me about it.
Also, SBs open early and coffee is easy grab on the way to work.
Also, a great place to meet a friend without having the need to spend a good deal of money for food and beverage.
Also, the baristas do their best to sound welcoming and upbeat despite being tired.
It’s a fun place.
I like the little lemon cakes with icing.
I went there once. The coffee was meh. Never went again.
I don’t, but I’m just not a fan of their coffee or food much. My wife and daughter like it though.
I do go to other coffee shops just to hang out, do work, be around people.
I get that some of these places are overpriced, but I frankly don’t care. I don’t drink, smoke, or take drugs, yet I have friends who drop hundreds a month on such things. Coffee though (and breakfast) — that’s my thing.
I go in to just smell the coffee and then leave. I like the smell of coffee but never drink it.
I happen to enjoy lattes with an extra shot. It’s easy to order on the app and just swing by and pick it up.
My daughter enjoys frappucinos. Not going to get those anywhere else.
I agree! The app makes it pretty easy to just order and pickup!
I’m usually happy enough to find a decent cup of coffee that I don’t mind that it’s a bit overpriced. I just stick to straight coffee and usually get out of there for under 3 bucks. They definitely make their dollars slinging milkfat and sugar more than the bean.
I don’t on my own. They have nothing I really want to drink. Literally nothing. Except their water is very good. I’m told it’s triple filtered. I do sometimes get tea, but I never love the flavors they have.
My husband likes one of their dessert like coffees, so I go with him about 6 times a year. Their lemon pound cake is DELICIOUS. So, sometimes I get that as a treat when I’m there.
My husband also often uses Starbucks coffee in his Keurig at home.
I only go to Starbucks if I’m with a friend who is a Starbucks regular. She goes daily so if I’m traveling with her and she goes, I’ll go. Otherwise, they’re too expensive and their coffee is too strong for my taste. I like the atmosphere of their shops but the coffee, which would be the main draw, is not coffee that I like. I’m not willing to pay 4 to 5 dollars for a cup of coffee.
I bought, from Costco, Starbucks Winter Blend coffee beans and they’re really good.
Ditto @jca2 My sentiments exactly.
I think the draw after that very first SB in Seattle was franchised wasn’t the coffee anymore but the sitting accommodations and all that supposedly warm and welcoming ambiance. I feel I’m paying for that as well besides the coffee and it’s fine.
Only if someone else wants to meet me there. And then I order something besides coffee.
The roasting process tends to leave the bean burnt on the outside and green on the inside.
I agree with @mazingerz88 , which happens rarely : )
The atmosphere is warm, friendly, intellectual, and creative. People who are that way or want to seem that way frequent the place. When I was in my 30s I was perfectly at home there even with college students. I’m fairly conservative but fit in with that liberal environment. New Agers, Agnostics, Christiansm Jews—coffee brings people together,
As @gondwanalon said a few posts back, the aroma itself is what I go for. Its part of that warm and friendly atmosphere and lifts me out of depression— I like the coffee just fine, but its the smell of the coffee that’s the draw, It doesn’t matter if its extremely cold outside or a very hot summer day—Starbucks is like coming in from the cold and being among friends and kindred spirits.
I like strong coffee, but I like better strong coffee than most Starbucks make. So if I order a drink there, I’ll get a Chai Latte, which I do like, but it’s a bit sweeter than I’d prefer.
