What would make you use a new dating app?

@goddess you’re asking questions of the wrong demographic. It’s fair to estimate that the vast number of Flutherians are in their 50s and above, and good number in their 60s and 70s. Not all, of course.

Familiarity with Tinder and Hinge is likely to be rather small, and the number of actual users minimal.

I recommend asking your marketing questions to a group more centered around the age 20–40 demographic than us old coots.

I hate all dating apps as they’re geared toward extraverts. And the idea of making a video to showcase one’s self is frankly horrendous, and exactly the sort of crap we need less of.

In the earlier years of the internet I could just go on any number of chat forums and find women to talk to. Those don’t exist, and now it’s all about superficially “showcasing” yourself like you’re some damn product to be marketed, which only encourages deception and manipulation.

The last problem with all the dating sites is that they’re sausage-fests. The dating site dynamic makes women gerenally lazy with their profiles and absurdly picky with whom they consider a potential match, and men generally get desperate and try to match with everyone and are incentivised to make dishonest or misleading profiles to get attention.

I’m not sure what problem this is attempting to solve. Is the goal a hookup app? Or is this a matchmaking service for people to find “the one?”

Nothing will ever make me use such an app.
