Would Skynet disapprove of Battle Bots?
Or future champions of A.I. rights?
Also is designing killing machines to be more lethal a good thing? What if some nut unleashed an advanced bot on civilians?

I think that one of the mistakes we make when thinking about AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) is the presumption that it would think ‘like us’. We make this assumption in both good and bad ways. There’s no reason to think that an AGI would be violent, but there’s also no reason to think that it would have empathy or sympathy for us or other beings like itself.
And even if it did, the little remote controlled cars featured in Battle Bots it would probably regard about how we would regard random proteins. IE an extremely primitive precursor to itself. Not the same thing.
