Why can't I style my text when inserting it from a source outside of fluther?

Asked by smudges (11187points) March 25th, 2021

Here are examples:

The more effort you make, the better answers you will get. (text from fluther)

“Sometimes you’re the windshield, sometimes you’re the bug.” ::Mary Chapin Carpenter (text from my notepad)

Nearly 15% of men and 30% of women booked into jails have a serious mental health condition, the National Alliance on Mental Illness estimates. (text from article on usatoday.com)

Ok, so I copied text from fluther, text from my notepad, and text from an outside source. But it made a liar out of me! Why-oh-why did it work here, but doesn’t when I’m responding to a post?!

Do you mean like this?
Or maybe like this?
Or even this?

@chyna Yes, that’s what I mean. When I try to do it in an answer, it doesn’t work IF I’m copying text from outside fluther. BUT…it did work when I was asking this question earlier.

Oh nevermind. It’s like when you tell a friend that your dog can do a trick but as soon as you try to have the dog do it in front of the friend, the dog won’t do it and makes a liar out of you. That’s what happened when I asked the question – suddenly the stylized text worked for me. }8^\

I know exactly what you’re talking about, I’ve been having the same issue and it’s incredibly frustrating!
Do you always use the same device to ask/answer questions on fluther?

@cheebdragon LOL Finally someone knows what I’m talking about! Yes, I always use my pc. I haven’t tried doing it in awhile – the copying text from outside of fluther, so don’t know if I’d still have the problem or not.
