Do you think it’s ok for clubs, dance classes, and discussion groups, to require people to be vaccinated to attend?

Asked by JLeslie (65743points) March 29th, 2021 from iPhone

People have a right to privacy, and in America we have HIPAA laws for medical privacy, but that has nothing to do with this question in my opinion. I keep seeing questions like this pop up on my Facebook.

If a dance class says “vaccinated people only” it’s true we would know everyone there is vaccinated, but they choose whether to attend the class or not.

Is it discrimination to not allow people who aren’t vaccinated? Would you prefer to go to classes that require vaccination? If you would prefer it, do you see it as a temporary measure until more people are vaccinated and the covid numbers come down.

Sounds good to me.
People may have the right to privacy but when that privacy makes someone else get sick and die, then it isn’t a privacy issue anymore.
“The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. Or the one.” Or in this case, the rights and needs of the many outweigh the rights of the few, or the one.
We live in a society of many, after all. It can’t be about just one person.

Students have had to provide yearly proof of vaccination to attend school for years. I do not see the problem with this being extended other places where folks gather in groups.

I am going to side with @kritiper on this one.

Yes, it should be a requirement.

Is it discrimination to not allow people who aren’t vaccinated?

Yes. Not all discrimination is bad.

If it’s just a temporary measure until more people are vaccinated and case numbers have significantly declined, I am okay with it.

Why would anyone want to go to a club or dance if they aren’t vaccinated !?!??
I don’t understand how someone can organize events without requirements like that.
