Serious question. Did the people of Georgia not realize what Marjorie Taylor Greene’s beliefs were before voting her in office?

Or was she the only choice? Do you think she will win if she runs again after spouting such crazy ideas such as a Covid Vax passport is the mark of the devil, the wildfires in California were caused by Jewish lasers, etc. the crazy talk goes on and on.

That is what the “Right Wingers” want !
“Greene has supported disproven far-right conspiracy theories such as Pizzagate and QAnon, as well as other unevidenced conspiracy theories including false flag shootings and 9/11 conspiracy theories.] Additionally, before running for Congress, she supported the execution of prominent Democratic politicians. Greene also supported Trump’s efforts to overturn his loss to Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election. ” – - Wikipedia
Please don’t paint all of us Georgians with that brush.
Green was elected in one district – Georgia 14 – which is way up in NW Georgia, bordering Tennessee and Alabama (which tells us something right there). I live in GA-7, which has a crazy right wing lunatic too, but not as loony as Green.
There was a democrat who ran against her last year, but he was an unknown and pulled out of the race anyway. That district (GA-14) has been republican solidly for decades.
The best I can say is Greene won because no one else ran against her. Hopefully that changes.
She has equated communism with fascism. That tells you all you need to know about her level of knowledge/education. Or maybe she’s just well-tuned into her constituents and knows full well how to say what they want to hear.
The majority of Republicans believe the 2020 election was stolen and Trump was a good president (just two among a thousand other dumb-ass idiotic beliefs).
There is no point in attempting to fit their thoughts and actions into a rational framework.
She should be properly medicated and living in an assisted-living facility. Seriously.
^^That would be a potential insult to the other residents. lol
^ Georgia jobs program: Building enough assisted-living centers to house all MTG’s voters as well.
^Good thinking but I think we’re talking mental health facilities rather than assisted living centers. Language is important you know.
^ You’re right. Language is important. That’s why I said “assisted living” rather “mental health facilities”.
^ But assisted living means that you need some help with the activities of daily living not that you’re a total whack job with delusions.
^ It was kinda a joke. But really, I don’t feel comfortable knowing that MTG is out there potentially driving and putting on her own pants, etc. This isn’t a mental health issue. It’s “I need her to drugged up and taken care of, because she’s clearly not safe to be doing normal adult stuff on her own”. I used to work for a residential program for adults with schizophrenia. They had their own apartments, but were provided with support such as getting to the laundromat or grocery store, budgeting their money, etc. Anyway, it was just my initial reaction and now it’s all spelled out unnecessarily.
Potato, potahto – I agree. Let’s call the whole thing off.
@elbanditoroso she didn’t paint ALL Georgians with the same brush and you know it.
I think it’s important to realize that Greene’s “wacky” beliefs are mainstream and widespread in some parts of the country. We on the coasts think this stuff is fringe and even top-down, but it’s practically an identity in some places. I’m sure the people of her district were well aware and it’s part of why they voted for her.
@Dutchess_III Why would you assert that? The OP definitely did paint all Georgians with the same brush.
@Smashley No, I didn’t paint all Georgians with the same brush.
Obviously the entire state doesn’t vote for her position. And my question was did they realize who she really was before they voted for her. I wasn’t trying to offend anyone.
@chyna – ok, just so we’re clear, the people of Georgia did not elect Marjorie Taylor Greene.
A bunch of yahoos in the far NW district of Georgia did.
“the people of Georgia did not elect Marjorie Taylor Greene”
but they did it elect her; it just not ALL people in Georgia.
Ok, and the people of Canada live in Charlottetown.
I’ve been to the horse race track for harness racing in Charlottetown, PEI.
I agree not all the people in Canada live in Charlottetown.
The people of Canada also killed prostitutes and fed them to pigs in BC. The people of Canada are responsible for the deaths of 1200 indigenous women since 1980. You see where Im going? To state that “a group” a did something that only a small part of that group had anything to do with, is misleading. There is a small arguement for using this phrasing if a majority or plurality of the group did the thing, but it’s never used like the OP did, unless by mistake or malice.
