This man reported to be 111 Years old ( Australia).

Isn’t that guy’s name really Bilbo Baggins?

I don’t have the finances to last ‘til I am 111. 70 is looking sketchy right now.

Nope, and have no desire to live that long.

Note: We don’t have control over how long naturally that we live, baring of course intervention?
Consider what if we do live this long or more?

If I have to spend the last 10–15 years of my life in bed drooling and shiting on myself if I have a choice I would rather not.

No idea. My guess is most likely, but it would be scary. Inflation can really screw up long term plans. If they change social security or Medicare policy who knows.

Right now, our basic expenses would be covered if I was retirement age with our (my husband and I) social security and his small pension. Very tight but covered. So, I’d be using very little savings, which is good, if I was still in the house I’m in now. I guess if my husband died I’d lose some of the SS? That would create a problem.

Yes, we live very frugally. About half of our net worth is investments, so a major stock market crash would hurt, but not destroy us.

I’m really not looking forward to decrepitude.

The thought of drawing a pension with failing health, constant pain, taking 101 different pills for assorted ailiments for years on and, and then dying to some horrible disease, or just croaking it suddenly, depresses me.

I would rather get a lump sum, blow it on hookers and drugs, and then just check out.

I have more money than I’ll ever spend. But if hyper inflation wipes out the value of the US dollar then I’ll be SOL like everyone else.

Thanks for your responses, but I see a pattern of thought in that everyone here assumes that means poor health?
Science in Health matters have studied reversal of diseases and new discoveries are found and sure to be discovered in the future which would then prolong lives and make them healthier.
So with that knowledge wouldn’t it then assume that we could live a good life for much longer.
Financially I assume that Governments would factor that in providing Pension plans to cover all costs in the future.

I guess. Living in a cardboard box under a bridge is still living.
