Can you please explain President Biden's joke today?

But here goes:
Among the four branches of the service (don’t you dare bring up Space Force), there is a lot of ribbing about which branch is most vital. The Army says they do the real fighting. The Navy say Marine stands for “Men Always Riding In Navy Equipment”. That kind of trash talk.
So here Biden makes the little joke about the Coast Guard protecting the Navy. When these Coast Guard cadets don’t laugh, he says they are “dull”, refering to not sharp, rather than boring. He says because they didn’t understand the dig at the Navy, they were in the heat so long their wits were dulled.
One thing playing against him here is that military men can make that joke, but if you weren’t in the military, it is a no-no.

It seems the woman he singled out didn’t find his jokes funny either.

He quoted Chairman Mao, thought he was being cute, and didn’t like it when nobody laughed…because it wasn’t funny. He did double down, though, by trying to make them the bad guys. That’s your leader!

@LostInParadise Wow. Where to start? Okay…did you actually read the article you cited? Mao used that as part of a promotion for the “Great Leap Forward” effort in China which led to the murder of 10s of millions of people. Including women. So do you support that?

But on a more esoteric level, Biden said women hold up half the world. And he meant it as a joke. Do you see women as a joke?

@seawulf575 , Where in the article did it say that Biden intended the remark as a joke? Biden was very serious about promoting the rights of women. If Mao also felt that way then so what?
