Is Q dead?

Asked by rebbel (35553points) May 23rd, 2021

Haven’t heard much from him, lately, it seems…
I thought there supposedly was a grand plan?
Any Qanon members/supporters here that can fill me in?
Or anybody else with info?

He is a dybbuk inhabiting the body of Marjorie Taylor Greene.

My guess is that the father-son combination that is supposedly ‘Q’ saw that they were becoming the targets of law enforcement and other pursuits, and decided to go to ground.

I think that they started the whole ‘Q’ movement as a joke, and it got out of hand and out of their control. Now they are trying to stay out of jail.

There’s probably a new arbitrary “Armageddon date” where there will be mass arrests of Democrats and Trump will be reinstated as the rightful president. It can just keep on in this vein until 2024.

I find it funny that I hear more from the left about QAnon than I ever do from the right. I hadn’t even heard of them before someone on here mentioned them. I had to look them up to see what the story was. In my mind, if you guys on the left would stop obsessing over this, it would go away.

janbb's avatar

@seawulf575 For what it’s worth, I hadn’t heard of them either before it was mentioned on here. However, now we do have people in Congress spouting QAnon ideas..

Tropical_Willie's avatar

Yes, @janbb ! Like MTG and the whole “let’s start an insurrection ” to get Trump in office.

@janbb I probably couldn’t tell you one single QAnon idea. I just am not that into them. However, it is likely that I have used one. Apparently the concept is that if you say anything that QAnon has said in the past, you are a dedicated follower. You couldn’t possibly come up with the same idea.
My point is that the left is so obsessed with this whole thing that they read far more into it than is really there. But they are also very good at using it as a branding ideal. When they hear something they don’t like, just accuse the speaker of being part of QAnon. Of course they do the same thing with “racism”, “misogamy” “xenophobe” and many more slurs…depending on what the topic might be.

janbb's avatar

@seawulf575 It works both ways. Antifa is very insignificant to any talk amongst people on the left and yet the right is all agog with it.

And that is all I have to say about this. Political posturing means less and less to me these days.

rebbel's avatar

Damn, I so wished this could have been a leftists party…., but no, the right got air of it and ruined it…...
Next time I’ll add that only a specific group may answer.

I’ll add a ~, just in case.

@janbb The big difference between Antifa and QAnon is the impact on society. The left claims QAnon is having a big impact, but really it is just accusation and speculation as to the impact. Meanwhile Antifa makes national news by taking part in violent riots, looting, attacks, etc. It isn’t speculation or accusation anymore…it is fact.
But you are right…political posturing is goofy. On both sides of the aisle. Unfortunately, that seems to be what drives today’s world.

Demosthenes's avatar

You can’t say QAnon has not had an impact when many of the January 6th rioters identified with QAnon and politicians identify with it as well. I don’t know any Antifa congressmen…

I agree that both QAnon and Antifa are used as insults, but I don’t think the difference is just about impact. The difference is that right-wingers hate Antifa and left-wingers hate QAnon. This is one instance where I think the equivalence is pretty valid.

Q seems to be alive and well when it comes to my former friend who got completely sucked in and brainwashed. She still posts on Facebook about vaccines being part of an evil plan and she’s just waiting for the horrible people who created the covid and vaccine scandal to be prosecuted for crimes against humanity like Nuremberg.

I still have Republican friends who were never totally off on the cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs train, but who say things that I know are memes or emails being pushed from Q or similar groups across social media.

Q seemed to become an umbrella for all WS and treasonous groups.

I saw an interview in Japan a month ago with Japanese Q followers.

seawulf575's avatar

@Demosthenes Was there a QAnon group there, leading the rioters on Jan 6th? No. Was there an Antifa group on the take over of Portland? Yep. They were armed, too! Was there an Antifa group heavily in the Minnesota riots? Yep. Seattle? Yep. Kenosha WI? Yep. St. Louis, Philadelphia, Charlotte? Yep. Charlottesville? Yep. The list goes on and on.
As for Antifa congressmen…well, you have Joe Biden and Kamala Harris who BOTH helped set up and urged support for a fund to bail out any Antifa people that WERE arrested. Can’t get much more support than that, unless they were out on the front lines with a gun as well.

Tropical_Willie's avatar

Let me get the right;
Right wingers have an insurrection against the government but that A-Okay only a few people got killed.

But Antifa is annoying to Trump and the right wing Fascists. Nobody was killed by Antifa !

SQUEEKY2's avatar

It has come to light that right wing extremists did indeed stir the protests in Portland, and Charlottesville, just to make the protestors look bad.
As for jan 6 I did see people holding cut out letter Qs, gee I wonder what that was supposed to represent?

Nomore_lockout's avatar

No, Vladimir Putin is alive and well. More to follow…

Nomore_lockout's avatar

This just in – shocking revelation that Capital insurrectionists were all Obama clones in Whiteface. You heard it here first. More to come, on the More Show

seawulf575's avatar

@Tropical_Willie You are joking, right? Nobody killed by Antifa?

https://thepostmillennial.com/seattle-fifth-shooting-antifa-celebrates-chop
https://nypost.com/2021/01/30/how-a-portland-radical-murdered-a-trump-supporter/

The list goes on and on. And their calls for violence and actual violent actions where people were not killed are even more plentiful. But that’s all okay, right? Any excuse in a storm!

Or for a broader perspective, you could always offer up a more unbiased source from folks who do the actual research: https://www.csis.org/analysis/rise-far-right-extremism-united-states

@sorry Your article is from 2018. I guess you and all the people giving you a great answer didn’t actually look to see how valid the article is today. I would guess the OP was curious about post Trump and now that parts of social media are cracking down more.

Tropical_Willie's avatar

@seawulf575 your sources are opinion pieces from “Right Wings” – - -black-nationalist shooting and killing people is not is not Antifa ! Andy No (author of opinion) seems to think anyone that is not a “Right Winger” is Antifa.

Your The Post Millennial is as without facts only hearsay.

Your NY Post is another Andy No Op-Ed piece.

It’s always a good thing to check links that users come up with, but with some you might as well don’t, because they are always BS, while they present them as factual.
It’s sad really.

sorry's avatar

@JLeslie, yes, the article is from 2018 and is as relevant now as it was then. That is what they mean my ‘trend’. It isn’t hard to find that this was a trend that has continued and reports from your own State Department and FBI have confirmed it as recently as just after the Jan 6 attack on the Capitol. But, hey, it’s your pool to swim in. Just because it was written a few years ago doesn’t make the report BS.

JLeslie's avatar

@sorry Who said BS? I am just saying it doesn’t answer if it is worse the same or better today than several months ago. I thought that was what the OP was asking. Facebook and other parts of social media are much much calmer and much less blatantly Q memes since the platforms are deleting that stuff now. The average sane person may not have a gauge on how things are trending now, because a lot of sane people blocked or unfriended their friends who went down the rabbit hole.

I know my QAnon friend is still posting every other day her delusions, but I don’t know if Q is planning another attack or how many people who were brainwashed have snapped out of it. I know some have.

My feeling is all WS hate groups are Q. I don’t know if they are still adding numbers to their gangs.

sorry's avatar

@JLeslie Oh, I think there’s been a misunderstanding. My response with that article was in reply to the conservative opinion pieces offered up by seawolf. The article wasn’t specifically about Q but in general about RW and WS groups gaining political, media and general social group status, so the general appeal and followers of the Q’s conspiracy was part of this general trend. Yes, social media has cracked down on spreading misinformation, but that Pillow Guy, forget his name, he’s got his thing going now, and the other guy that got kicked off Twitter, he’s got his own website, too. I’m sure they are still meeting. The GOP conference where someone literally made a golden idol to worship.. I mean.. we all thought it had to be an Onion article.

JLeslie's avatar

@sorry Gotcha. The biggest problem is a lot of people entranced by Q really don’t see any problem with White Supremacy. They just see WS as White Americans who want to keep the culture in America from changing and they think Nationalism is a good term and a good thing. They don’t even relate it to racism and NeoNazis. That’s why it feels like talking to a wall. They feel in their hearts they themselves are good, they love America, and they don’t believe they are racist, and they project that onto WS groups instead of really seeing what those groups believe and do.

seawulf575's avatar

@sorry The articles I posted had nothing to do with Q. I was responding to @Tropical_Willie‘s claim that Antifa never killed anyone. Guess in your rush to try putting up the leftist talking points you missed that I was not talking about Q.

sorry's avatar

@seawulf575 Pay attention. I wasn’t talking about Q either.

JLeslie's avatar

I talked about Q.

sorry's avatar

@JLeslie The extremist never think they’re being extreme. It’s easier now than ever before to get caught up in a feedback loop of bias confirming information, especially in countries where the media aren’t held to any standards. The extreme right, WS and Nationalistic behaviour isn’t new and it was perfectly ripe for the picking. Add ‘catalyst Q and stir’ and what did you get? The first breach of the US capitol building since the war of 1812, when the Brits came down from Canada and handed the US a bonfire made up of several important buildings.

Tropical_Willie's avatar

“The articles I posted had nothing to do with Q. I was responding to @Tropical_Willie‘s claim that Antifa never killed anyone.”

The articles were editorial comments from a “Fright Winger” that thinks anyone that doesn’t fully approve of Trump in Antifa, and one of the articles was gang related not Antifa (the author of the article claimed it was Antifa related, but it was a turf war) !!
