What are some of the most funny/creative ways, that companies, that are named after the owner, have used their name for marketing/branding?
For example, there is a grocery store in Germany, that is owned by a man named “Hans Wilhelm Fick”, whose employees have to walk around with a branded shirt, that has printed on it the slogan Der beste Fick im Norden, which translates to “the best fuck in the north”.

“My Bologna has a first name
it’s O S C A R…”
Smuckers’:
“With a name like that, it’s got to be good!”
^^That is their actual slogan.
My Bologna has a second name….
That’s the reason I know how to spell B O L O G N A!
Not creative, but we thought it was funny that there is a supermarket chain named Schnucks, pronounced shnook. In Yiddish it means someone who is incompetent or not too smart who people would pity. It is the founder’s last name. I assume it’s German, I don’t know if it means the same in German.
According to this, the term ‘john’ referring to flush toilets was derived from Queen Elizabeth’s son, John Harrington.
We need to give some respect to Thomas Crapper as well, who also has some responsibility for the flush toilet – known colloquially as the crapper.
In North Carolina there’s a restaurant called, “Three Brothers”. Their business cards and the local billboard have a picture of four men.
@elbanditoroso Well hell, all this time I thought the crapper was the person depositing the crap.
@smudges In North Carolina they probably can’t count past 3. :-)
@janbb Ohhhh…that’s beneath you. 8^(
And yet Dean Smith is credited with creating the Four-Corners offense. ;-)
@smudges Just a joke. I get plenty of ribbing places about Joisey and the Sopranos. Didn’t mean to offend.
@janbb Ok. 8^) Yeah, I can understand about New Jersey even though I’ve never been there. There are just certain states who get ribbed, huh? LOL
