Was the Green Goblin's mask in Sam Raimi's "Spiderman" film based on Willem Dafoe's face?

Because, no offense to the actor, they look almost identical.

Haven’t read an article or seen any videos of the prop makers indicating the mask was based on Dafoe’s face.

Based on hazy memories of how the Goblin character looks in comic books, the movie mask design was apt and seems to me to be spot on.

I guess Dafoe’s face just happens to match perfectly the original comic book Goblin character’s facial design. I bet it’s a big part of why he was tapped for the role.

No. Dafoe looks a lot like Gobby.
