Will more people be inspired to get the COVID vaccine now that golfer Jon Rahm has tested positive? For possibly the second time?

Today, June 5, 2021, Jon Rahm had to bow out of the Memorial Tournament when he tested positive for COVID-!9. And he was leading by 6 strokes.

If hundreds of thousands of deceased people didn’t do the trick, some golfer won’t either.
Like @rebbel said . . . .
My county of about 80,000 has about 33% of the adults fully vaccinated; up from two weeks ago, it was 29%. The numbers are not growing. The county health department has been returning vaccines because nobody is scheduling for them.
Might mention the pick-up trucks have Confederate flags on trailer hitch flag pole and some people still have Trump 2020 banners in their front yards.
The pandemic may never end in my area.
Not everyone will be inspired, But the more the better, if any.
I think there is a fair way to go be-fore everyone tee’s up for the jab.
Doubtful. People have had ample opportunities for months to get vaccinated. If they haven’t by now, one asymptomatic golfer isn’t going to change their minds.
@rebbel I’d like to agree with you but part of me is thinking that the possibility of losing out o a massive pay day because you didn’t get vaccinated may convince some people to get it.
I have zero sympathy for him. He “refused to say” whether he got a vaccine which means he didn’t. He loses the potential for a million dollar purse because he thinks he knows better than scientists.
Doubtful. The anti-vax crowd would just say vaccinated people are catching covid too and the tests aren’t accurate. They can’t be reasoned with. Outdoors, he felt ok I guess? They will think the rules aren’t fair.
To be clear, a six shot lead going into the final round does not guarantee a win.
That being said, pissing away a $1.7m purse over a little prick…man, give your head a wobble!
Damned near everyone I know who follows golf or golfs themselves is a doctor. In fact, offhand, I can name only a couple of exceptions one of them being my mother in law.
@stanleybmanly There are doctors not getting the shot, although I do assume more than 50% are getting it. Probably more now that It’s been out a while.
