If you’re the richest person in the world, would you risk your life flying into space?

If true, it seems Bezos is about to do it. Not sure if he is the richest at this point in time.

What else are you going to do? You can buy everything else.

I’ll bet the former Mrs. Bezos is glad she has her half under her control, so she doesn’t need to screw with the estate if Bezos doesn’t come home.

In a heartbeat.

Why not? I’m certainly not the richest person in the world and spent months at a time underwater. Might as well go to the other extreme.

I was thinking the same thing. And he’s taking his brother!
I would not do it. I’m afraid of heights.

Why not. It’s not unprecedented. Have a look at how Branson spent most of the 80’s.

Not unless I were being invited by space aliens who seemed to have reliable-looking technology.

Absolutely. All the rich people I know seem to like exotic vacations. Why not.

Nomore_lockout's avatar

Nope. Too many places I could travel to on terra firma.

I don’t even like going above the fourth or fifth floor on an elevator.

No.

I saw an interview years ago with a very wealthy Iranian-American who paid to go into space. The way she described the earth from space was amazing. She talked about seeing no borders from space. She was full of so much positivity and smiled and oozed joy and peace. She also spoke of how sure she was that she wanted to go to space in the first place. I think people have a strong desire to do it, or a total absence of it.

I wouldn’t since I value my life and I don’t have a death wish.
Some very rich people think that they are invincible.
Hope all works out and he comes back safe and with a new perspective on the meaning of life.

@Inspired_2write Most astronauts also value their lives and don’t have a death wish.
I value my life and don’t have a death wish.
I would hazard a guess that everyone on this thread who said they would go also values their life and doesn’t have a death wish.

@canidmajor
it was just toung in cheek comment, not serious.
But knowing the risks it would seem fame over life more important for some others profit?
