In ancient times was court like commercials to kings and queens?
People asking for stuff. Or to buy one’s stuff. Was it one big infomercial? Or spam?
Humor welcome.

No.
If I were king and someone behaved like a commercial in front of me, they’d damned better be honest, factual, interesting, and not insult my intelligence, or they’d soon desperately wish they had been.
So, nothing like the modern situation.
Kind of, from everything I’ve read a shop could only be ‘endorsed’ if the Royals were repeat customers. Big status symbol.
I would say more like endorsement deals than commercials though.
Court was the justice system. They were jury courts and very large: the smallest possible had 200 members (+1 to avoid ties) and sometimes 501, 1000 or 1500.
The other type of court you may be thinking of was the king’s court. It’s a term that describes the king’s council and household. The court travelled with the king wherever he went. The king would seek advice from the wise men of his court, which would include relatives, barons, lords, and members of the church such as bishops.
I’m not sure where you got your ideas of court.
No. It was just entertainment. (Outside of the business of the court.)
@kritiper Hmmm…not from the numerous articles I read. <shrugs>
Maybe it was all of that. I’ve read a lot of books, I wasn’t there. :)
