What's that indie song?

Asked by shadling21 (6506points) September 11th, 2008

The trouble with indie music is the lyrics may not be online.

The song goes: “Write a song about an old dirt ro-o-oad
(something something something) smoke
While making love to someone else’s alter
eeeeeeego!”

This song is ridiculously catchy and I must track it down.

Where have you heard the song? (many radio stations provide their playlists in their websites)

Male or female singer?

Sounds like… (other song/band/artist)?

About how old is the song?

Kick 92.9 – I’ve been scouring their playlist for the past day.

Male singer.

Reminds me of Cold War Kids for some reason, especially when the vocalist sings, “ro-o-oad” and “smoke”. But this group is more upbeat. I honestly can’t figure out who else they sound like…

It’s been played on that station for the past half year, I’d reckon. But it could be older, as Kick often adds older music to the station.

It could also be local. Any Winnipeggers on Fluther?

This reminds me of a song I heard on the radio not too long ago, there is a small chance it could be the same one. I honestly couldn’t remember or make out the lyrics to mine. I thought it sounded like perhaps a more upbeat version of interpol or eve 6 though.

Not really more upbeat than Interpol, but more laid-back with an Interpol-like rhythm.

I haven’t heard this song in a while, since I haven’t listened to the radio in a while.

If anyone figures it out, I’ll have to kiss them.
