Why did "Who Framed Roger Rabbit 2?" get cancelled?

IMDB says it is still In Development.

@filmfann Since the original was over 30 years ago, that’s hard to believe.

It didn’t they did a complete overhaul & renamed it Starsky & Hutch

@LostInParadise Sorry to you and @filmfann. I wasn’t disputing that that’s what it says on IMDB. I just don’t think it’s likely to be happening.

IMDB shows a release date of 2022, which i think is doubtful. WFRR1 director Robert Zemeckis said he might use a digitally recreated performance of Bob Hoskins, since Hoskins died a few years ago.
