Have you ever lied on a career test?

Asked by RedDeerGuy1 (24986points) July 7th, 2021

Or any test?

I don’t have enough insight to answer a career test properly.

Including eye exams. I really can’t tell the difference between 1 or 2.

Can you please recommend a career test that is for those who are bad at choosing? It doesn’t have to be free.

Humor welcome.

No. I simply disregarded the so-called results.

Yes! Your question just reminded me of doing this cheating. I was a senior in high school and we had to all take a career aptitude test. I was a bit of a partier in high school so I had a bit of a hangover. I cheated off of the guy beside me. A week later we got the results back. Surprise! I was cut out to be a mechanical engineer! Yes, he went on to a technical college. I went on to a community college for a business management degree.

Is there an accurate career test?

The most accurate assessment I have ever taken (out of many) provides the top five Strengths of the individual taking it. There are no bad Strengths; it’s just a matter of identifying the top five that most “strengthen” you while doing it. In taking the assessment, it only puts a name to what you probably know.

Here is example: There were two men who had a law degree. Both weren’t completely happy working for a law firm. Once they honed down to what provided the greatest satisfaction, they joined in starting their own law firm. One was jazzed by spending the working hours doing the legal research to support a case. The other partner preferred conducting the case in court. It was a win-win for both lawyers.

Identify what tasks “strengthen” you. What is it that makes time fly by? Then consider what is it about that task that invorgrates you. By identifying these strengths, you may be able to find a suitable career. There is no point in lying or cheating.

I’ve never lied on a career test.

The only test I remember cheating on was a government test in jr. high and the guy I copied off of was very good in class, so I did not copy all of his answers, because I was afraid of doing too well on the test. It turned out I got an answer right that he got incorrect! That was a real stroke of luck. The teacher even pulled me aside when he gave us our grades and complemented me on doing so well, and that I must have studied for the test and it paid off. The whole thing made me a nervous wreck and I never cheated on a test again in school.

What would be the point of not answering an exam like that to the best of one’s ability?

If you really can’t tell the difference between a 1 and a 2 on an eye exam, you need to tell the doctor so they can help correct your vision.

The purpose of a career questionnaire is to help you determine your strengths and weaknesses, and to assist in finding a career that will be satisfying. “Cheating” on a quiz like this is only cheating yourself.

I was hung over. So shoot me.

There’s no pass or fail on an aptitude/career test, and I can’t see that insight is necessary. It’s usually questions like: “Would you rather build a boat or read a book about building a boat?” and “Would you rather work in a group or by yourself?”.

@smudges I really don’t know my preferences that well. Every time I do a personality or career test I get different results.

Can’t help you with that. :(
