What is a humorous reason that you got that discount?

Like for a hotel? They had bed bugs.

Humor welcome.

Please forgive me, but there is no other way to tell this. A friend and I were traveling to Northern California to attend a wedding. The first night at our hotel we noticed a wet spot on the bottom bed sheet with what looked to be a few pubic hairs stuck to it. Of course we called the front desk and arranged to have new sheets put on the bed. We also got a 15% discount on our bill.

My wife is deaf, and we were standing in the check out line at Safeway. I remembered we’d forgotten to pick up an item, so I left my wife in line while I went to get it.
When I returned, a man was screaming at my wife, while she calmly put items on the checking conveyor thing. I walked up to him and got right in his face, and asked what his fucking problem was. He said he had spoken to my wife, but she ignored him, and it escalated. He didn’t realize she was deaf.
A manager came to the register, and apologized. He thanked me for not hitting the man, and gave us the cartload of grocheries for free.
This happened about 30 years ago. I had forgotten about it until my wife reminded me about it last week.

@chyna that would be an understatement.

@lastexit It is NSFW but when I was working for a hotel , that NSFW covered duvets where just turned over, and not cleaned.

One time I was at the grocery- full cart of stuff – and the cashier rang it up, and subtracted 5% off the total.

I asked – why did you that?

She looked at me and said – you’re over 55, right?

I said “yes .. but I didn’t ask for it – do I look that old?”

Because my loyalty card is shared by several people, some of whom live in different states, and some of Whom I don’t even know.

I got a discount on a hotel room one time because I took my wife. My wife is extraordinary at negotiating. She asked the cost of the rooms. A jacuzzi suite was $129 a night and a regular room was $99 a night. She said “Okay, thanks. C’mon…let’s go see what the other hotels are offering.” Being an off season in the area the hotel clerk immediately stalled us, acted like she was looking some stuff up and said she could get us a jacuzzi suite for $109 a night and a regular room for $79. My wife said “Thanks, but I think they have a better deal going on across the street. We’re going to check it out, but we may be back. The clerk immediately stopped us and called the manager over. We ended up getting a jacuzzi suite for $79 for the night. Could have had the regular room for $49, but really…why?
