Do Tide pods expire?
The color changed from white to brown. Or was it brown to begin? Is it ok? I have already done two loads of clothes and towels. So its too late for now. I have had them for two years.

How does your laundry smell? Does it smell fresh or funky?
@chyna It doesn’t smell good or bad. GA! I never thought of that.
Check for an expiration date or google can probably answer it.
@smudges Thanks. The Google says that they expire in 15 months. I will toss and get a new batch next time I remember in the grocery store. Actually I will switch to the unsented brand from the health store.
If they changed color significantly I’d probably not use them. I don’t understand the pods. Sometimes I wash a very small load of laundry and sometimes very large. With the pods do you use two for a big load? What are the directions?
Yes. Two for a big load. I have not read the directions.
I’d use them. I hate wasting stuff.
Every one you use saves you about a quarter and keeps those chemicals out of the landfill.
Wait at least 2 more weeks before you think you need to buy new ones. 8 loads will save you $2.00!
It’s probably just the color that goes funky, not the cleaning power. I’d use them.
That expiration stuff, IMO, is just a ploy to get people like you to throw out perfectly good product and go buy more. The manufacturers make more money that way…
My opinion of expiration date is that the product would have degraded down to some specified level below the fresh product. It would still work, but maybe not as well. In this case, I would go ahead and use those pods. They will probably get most of the dirt and sweat out of the laundry.
I’m with @LuckyGuy. They really don’t expire, they just can get clumpy and not be as effective. I found this site Does Laundry Detergent Expire and it really is that the manufacturers don’t guarantee their stuff after the expiration date. If you are worried that it won’t mix well then put it in some hot water and mix it up till it’s melted and then pour in the wash. Or just just it when using hot water.
