I cropped it and tried to bring it down to 40 X 40. It was horrible. But it is a cute illustration.

Oof! Yah. Even in Photoshop the minor images overlap and bleed. Hate to see what the Fluther thumbnail engine would’ve done, especially if uploaded in original, non-square aspect ratio.

(Had a bit of the same problem with my current avatar. But I still kinda dig it.)

@wildflower – thanks for the idea of Googling my name. I now scoured Wikipedia for my name (so as to make sure I’m allowed to use the image), and when I came across Vincent van Gogh I knew I had to use him as he’s Dutch as well ;-)

@johnpowell – sorry, it needs refreshment every so often :P

@wilhel1812 – I would do that, but I believe there was another member already doing something like that and I wouldn’t want to make the impression I’m stealing people’s avatars.

Hehe. Then again, I’m having second thoughts now – I can’t really identify with the head :P. Ah well, it’ll do for now ;-)

@Vincentt, personalize the head! I gave mine the Judith Supine treatment. I feel so much more at home with it now. I have embraced the Vincent Price bust.

@Vincentt. Could you try just the ear? Or maybe just a small portion of the “Starry Night” or a piece of one of his that you like.

@greylady – thanks, I like that. I took a self-portrait from him painted roughly a century before I was born. I’m not a fan of Van Gogh/paintings, unfortunately ;-)

You’re welcome! I am not too fond of his painting either, they seem too “unsettling” to me. All that wind or glare or something uncomfortable in them. But the self portrait is not bad!
