Are people going back to being very covid careful in your town because of the surge in cases from Delta?

Lots of people where I live are masking up again in stores, not going to exercise classes, not going to discussion groups in person, it sucks. Many people were back to normal for several months.
Delta is here, we have some breakthrough cases, and some breakthrough cases are in the hospital. That is what is driving a lot of people to retreat since most of us are vaccinated.
What’s happening where you live? Were you back to normal? Now, everything is changing back again? Or, is your city totally different.

I live in a county with a very high vaccination rate (over 80% of adults) and a very low number of COVID-19 infections. In fact, we’ve been averaging between zero and one new cases per week for a couple of months now. Attendance at my gym was up (with no one wearing a mask), about one in every five or six people was wearing a mask at the grocery store, and the schools were saying the mask policy for the coming school year would depend on what the CDC’s guidance was when classes started.
Over the past two weeks, however, I’ve seen gym attendance drop (though still not a lot of masks among those who are still working out), more than half of the people here are wearing masks to the grocery store, and the school has said that masks will be required for the upcoming school year regardless of CDC guidance. The schools have also allowed parents to change their decision regarding at home or in person schooling (since the county will be providing both options from here on out, even if COVID-19 goes away completely). This is despite the fact that there was a strict deadline precisely because of how much logistical work goes into accommodating everyone’s preferences.
So as far as my area is concerned, I would say that the answer to your question is “yes.” People here are going back to being very careful, and I expect that trend to continue.
I can’t speak to everyone, but me and my family are. I have been seeing more mask wearing in stores lately.
Not yet. It amazed me how quickly they all ditched their masks but the wearing of masks is slowly on it’s way back up.
Not significantly. People in Georgia pretty much dropped masks as soon as they could. There are a handful of people who wear them in the store or at the post office.
It isn’t being taken seriously here, at least where I live.
@JLeslie I am in Virginia. Also, a small update: when I went to the grocery store today, about 75% of the people were wearing masks.
HA! Here’s what our governor has to say about it:
“The State of Nebraska will not be adopting their mask guidance.”
“Schools should convene in person without mask or vaccine requirements,” says Ricketts.
Ricketts also said in the statement Tuesday that “it is time for the CDC and the government to get out of the way, and stop trying to tell people how to live their lives.”

Can you guess which party he belongs to? <<sigh>> He’s such an ass.
Shelby County, TN, just mandated masks. Schools in the county system will be masking now. That’s Memphis and the metro area.
@smudges, does he stop for red lights? Does he wear a seat belt? Does he support bicycle helmets? Or does the traffic just run free and wild in your state because otherwise it would limit people’s freedom? How about the freedom to assault people or pick their pockets? Is that okay too?
