Happens all the time, already my whole lifetime, never affected me (as far as I know).
That these are G1…, meh.
I’ll make sure I won’t be in a car, navigating, those days.

^^^^ Exactly. That’s the kind of “news” I ignore.

I’m not sure how to prepare for hot magma bursts but it sounds amazing to watch.

Dutchess_III's avatar

You can’t watch it. The sun’s light would obliterate any details.

Well, today is Wednesday Sept 1, so apparently whatever was going to happen either already did or didn’t. I’d guess it didn’t.

Dutchess_III's avatar

I’d guess it did. Not the big deal that those articles make them out to be. Which is why I ignore them.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Also, it isn’t lava @KNOWITALL. It’s gas.

@Inspired_2write Sept. 1 /2? That’s Wednesday and Thursday.
And I don’t do “links.” I still use a DUM and it is very slow and takes FOREVER to download stuff. Someday soon I may move up to DSL, but not quite yet. Maybe in three more years…

When/if a Carrington level event happens in our lifetimes I guarantee none of us will be ready. This is believed to be overdue. A G1 class…tis but a fart in the wind.

Break out the aluminum foil hats !

I guess I should add “solar flares” to my list of “Woes (or Whoa’s) of the world”!

So far its:
Wildfires
Superstorms
Megadrought
Permafrost melting
Sea levels rising
...and more!

Earth is a dangerous place to live!

In part.. the following:from the link.

“NOAA forecasters expect the CMEs to deliver a double blow separated by hours. The first CME could spark a minor G1-class geomagnetic storm late on September 1. The second CME could intensify the storm, boosting it to a moderately strong G2-class event on September 2.”

“Storms like these do no damage to power grids or satellites. They can, however, produce beautiful auroras at high latitudes. A light show is possible in Scandinavia, Iceland, Canada, and even some northern-tier U.S. states.”

My grocery store interact-debit machines are not working. Might be the flares?

kritiper's avatar

@Inspired_2write Thank you. Much appreciated!

Dutchess_III's avatar

I wanna go to Canada.

Strauss's avatar

^^I did too, back in the 1960’s. But I ended up in Vietnam instead!~
