What's the wildest thing you've done to make some money?

Asked by damien (2404points) September 13th, 2008

I was just reading this article about a 22-year-old girl in the US who’s auctioning her virginity to pay for a college education and it got me thinking about how desperate some people are to make some cash and the lengths they’d go to get it.

Have you ever done anything unusual to make some cash?

Interesting, how does one know they are getting what they paid for?

Personally, I think one has the right to do what they want with their body, as long as they aren’t hurting themselves or anyone else in the process.

I’m just glad she isn’t my daugheter…bet mommy & daddy are real proud of her entrepreneur skills.

I’ll start the betting at $10.53 and some left-over Alfredo from Pizza Hut.

Quoting the article:The woman, who has earned a bachelor degree in women’s studies and now wants to start a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy, is hoping the bidding will hit $1 million.

Um, ok, so who wants to get marriage counselling from a ho? She’s a couple sandwiches short of a picnic.

I don’t mind that she’s having sex for money, but I question whether she really is a virgin.

I seriously doubt that she is.

@scamp: wow, the irony!

@allengreen: You can reach her at (888) BUNNYRANCH (no joke).

@sarapnsc: You have kids AND you’re a “virgin?”

Fascinating…

Ummmmm. I adopted. Yeah, that’s what I did.

I forgot to mention the “wildest” thing I did for money.

Due to repeated beatings/whippings as a child, administered by my mother’s husband, I developed a way to kind of “turn off” my nerve endings (a yoga technique), so I could basically feel no pain in a particular area of my body.

One night at a St. Louis bar, I made a wager with some dude, who bet me $50 (both us had been drinking too much) that he could slap (not hit, but slap) my face for 15 continuous/consecutive minutes, and that I wouldn’t ask him to stop.

Fifteen minutes later, I was $50 richer, and in 1969, that was a fairly decent amount of money to earn in 1/4 of a hour.

I use to knit and sew dog booties and coats when I was in college and anytime I needed extra money. They sold really well, I started to get so many orders, I couldn’t complete them, plus my hands where starting to really hurt. It was good and easy money though.

@JackAdams, what did your face look like afterwards?

JackAdams's avatar

I wasn’t much uglier than I am, right now.

Swollen and red, of course…

Thanks JA, I understand you now better….

I’m an illustrator. Once, I accepted the job of a series of illustrations depicting stretching exercises for a penis-lengthening product. This would be “manual” exercises done prior to fitting some mechanical device on for the rest of the day (I never saw the actual device). The illustrations needed to be accurate, done in a pencil-sketch and -shading style. I had to use myself as reference.

And I got hosed on the price. That was a learning lesson – to this day, I won’t work without a written contract.

For that kind of illustration assignment, Dave, I think I might have insisted on, “cash in advance.”

Here’s another wild thing I and three others did, when all of us were college students in MN in the late 1960s/early 1970s.

A good friend of mine and two girls that we knew, hit upon this idea that we would charge $100 for any guy who wanted himself to be photographed with the girls, one on each side of him, in a bed, with both girls totally naked.

The idea was that each of the 4 of us would make $25, per “transaction.”

But, the two girls (after having a private conversation) came up with a better idea (for them). They would get $80 ($40/each, per photo), while my friend and I would only get $10/each, per photo.

Because we didn’t have any other girls who would be willing to pose for such photos, we agreed.

So, every week, there were a few guys who wanted to be photographed in a bed, lying between two gorgeous naked (former cheerleader) babes, looking like he had just gotten through partying with them, so he could have “bragging rights” with others back home, or to leave the photograph “accidentally” setting on top of a desk or dresser, so a visiting GF could “find” it, and think to herself, “Hey, this guy must be a super lover!”

The girls got so much money doing this, they were both able to quit their waitressing jobs.

My buddy and I got enough to fund our frequent drinking excursions.

Just to clarify, I heard an interview with this girl on Howard Stern. She has put sexual toys in her private area (quite possibly busting her hymen). She has also given and received oral and hand stimulation.

She is only a virgin by the thinest definition of the word.

scamp's avatar

@allengreen wow! If you have enough money to bid on her, I guess I’ll be a whole lot nicer to you in the future, ha ha!!

@bodyhead hmmm, that kinda sounds like false advertising, doesn’t it?

jca's avatar

where i’m from, someone who takes money for sex is called a “foul hookah.”

allengreen's avatar

bodyhead—that is an abstinate virgin!

I spent a summer working for a very prominent plastic surgeon, one of my responsibilities was to burn his rap CDs onto his laptop for him. He asked me not to tell me mom what he listened to.

It was oh-so-wild…(not really).
