How can I change an image from one format into another?

Asked by 2davidc8 (10189points) September 25th, 2021

For example, from a .jfif file into a .jpg file.
Hopefully, using free software, please.
Thanks!

Faststone Image viewer. Freeware/shareware. I use it all the time. Does all sorts of conversions.

Also try Irfan view. A little trickier to use, but still excellent.

You can use GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) use ‘export as’ and then pick the file extension you want.

I’m posting from a Windows 7 perspective, so my advice might be somewhat antiquated, but here’s what I would do:

Right click on the image > Open with Paint > Save as > select a file type from the popup menu on the right.

@Brian1946 Paint can do that? I’ll give it a try!

@2davidc8

It can do it for me with W7. It’s somewhat more versatile than DaVinci’s palette. ;-)

What’s your OS?

@Brian1946 I’m on Win 10. Hey, both Paint and Paint 3D (which came with Windows) can do it! Thanks!
