What could weight gain in the upper belly be a sign of?

I gained about 40 pounds since the pandemic began, but recently I’ve noticed my upper belly storing more fat than usual, even causing new stretch marks to appear. I don’t live the healthiest lifestyle and I’ve always been overweight, but I’ve never had this much fat storage on my upper belly before. Could there a specific reason this is happening? Is it anything to be concerned about?
