I used to poke fun at people who get emotional while simply looking at a painting, but I ate some major crow today.
I recently visited Denver and went to the Denver Art Museum. I hadn’t looked at the lineup beforehand, so I was floored that it included Monet, van Gogh, Morisot, Degas, Caillebotte, Cézanne, Manet, Renoir, and Sargent, all in one show. I teared up within minutes. A wave of emotion just swept over me, and I was surprised by it.
