Or other technology devices?
I mean, do we really still need the weatherman on TV?
This evening I was at my parents, watching the news, and when the weatherman came on, and told us the forecast, I thought to myself “this forecast I checked some days ago (until the 11th of October).
So yeah, the weatherman can pack his stuff…
What or who say you?

Just from a quick look at the apps on my phone…
Travel Agent
Calling the police to get directions. Not really a job but a portion of a job.
Radio DJ (or broadcast radio in general).
Telephone Operator/411
Calculator Manufacturer
City Cab Driver
Local Pharmacist
Local News Anchor
and yes, Weather Person
Telephone lineman / installer, adios amigo!
Mostly white collar jobs.
I disagree that many jobs will become redundant, though perhaps some of the fat will be trimmed. Many of the jobs under pressure provide a superior service to the app version, though often not as convenient. The ones who survive will get with the times and get similar apps; cab companies, local grocery stores, travel agents and such. As far as the weatherman goes.. hes been redundant for years, and half the local news is regurgitated and most of the rest is poorly covered, anyways. People still set their lives by the TV schedule, and they still want the local so and so on at 7.
I almost never watch or check the weather, but I live in Florida. I checked it a little more when I lived in a cold climate. I do watch the weather almost obsessively when a hurricane is close by. We need some weather people on TV for the catastrophic weather in my opinion.
I can watch TV on my phone app, but still better in a bigger screen.
Do we need cookbooks anymore? I usually Google for a recipe. I assume there are apps for that too.
Apps are replacing the need to carry credit cards or cash or to stand on line at the grocery store.
Anything gasoline station – all will be electric.
The whole idea that because a smartphone app exists, it means other ways of doing the same thing will cease to exist, and “jobs” for other ways of doing things will not exist, is just incorrect.
People will continue to do things in a variety of ways. Because we want to, prefer to, and/or don’t have or want to use a mobile device, etc.
Cable television companies.
