If you live alone, what are some of the best parts of it?

I just had crackers and cheese for supper while watching “Mad About You” in my bathrobe. Simple pleasures.

What are some of the joys of living alone for you?

I love the absolute autonomy. I can use my space any way that I please. I love being able to see people or not as I choose, when I choose. After so many years in hospitality and retail, the sitting around in sweats with weird snacks to hand and nerdy TV on is lovely.

I can come and go as I please. I can eat or drink whenever and whatever I want, or not at all.
I can watch anything I want on TV. My house is neat and tidy and it doesn’t get messy with someone’s dirty socks on the floor or beard hairs in the sink.

Doing whatever the hell I want. Setting the temperature at whatever I want.

Solitude. No exes, no kids, no relatives, no in-laws or out-laws. Watching what I want on TV, going where I want when I want, mowing the lawn or not, going to the bathroom with the door wide open, washing the dishes or not, getting dressed or not, farting loudly and not caring if it rattles the windows, ...
It is glorious!

The freedom to drink out of the milk carton.

I don’t live alone, but I did, and I will again.

•  Finding things where I left them.
•  Having nobody use up the last of the butter or orange juice or laundry detergent without getting more.
•  Not being accountable to anybody for what I do or how or when I do it.
•  Putting off showers when I’m not going anywhere.
•  Choosing my decor to please myself.
•  Not listening to anyone else’s bodily noises or bad language, and not cleaning up their dishes or smelling their, uh, aromas.
•  Indulging in a bad mood when I feel like it, dammit.
•  Having no one come in unless I let them in. I’m the one with the key.
•  Peace and quiet.

I live alone, and all of the above are reasons I love it.

Alone? I’ve heard of something like that. Never had much solitude even back in my single days. Always someone or other hanging around. Guess the best part for me would be napping when I want, for as long as I want.
