Can you be jealous of someone's success and not acknowledge your own success at the same time?

Asked by Mimishu1995 (23800points) October 28th, 2021

I seem to notice that I have a tendency to feel a bit jealous when someone succeeds in something I want to achieve. But when I finally get the same success, I don’t feel like I deserve it. I think of it as me getting lucky, or someone more deserving just has a stroke of bad luck and the success should belong to them more than to me.

I noticed this while playing a game, but I realized that it applies to me in other things too.

What is wrong with me?

Yes. The phrase “the grass is greener on the other side of the fence”, comes to mind.

I had a problem with the students in university who had their own cars. Until my friend told me that those with cars are in debt to their eyeballs, and beholden to the costs of maintenance on a car.

Maintenance like gas, repairs and insurance. Also parking on campus is expensive.

Nothing is wrong with you. You are human. Human’s are born with a fatal chronic condition, called life. Life Is usually referred to the human condition.Life happens to us all.

The only real success is feeling happy and contented with yourself.

Of course you can. It is not a character flaw so don’t beat yourself up.
If you are looking to change this, then focus on Gratitude.
