I am helping a sick friend some days preparing a meal for him and he always has left-over rotisserie chicken, fresh tomato ( sometimes not that fresh ), lettuce, mustard and rye bread or pumpernickel bread in his fridge. I use these ingredients to make him a chicken sandwich more often than not which made me wonder how I can improve my chicken sandwich making skills. I am more than willing to bring for him other ingredients that I may need based on your recommendations. Thank you.

A good add to these would make a club style sandwich with three slices of bread (or just two) and add:
Bacon
Avocado
Cheddar Cheese
mayo and dijon
To spice up the chicken add some garlic powder, onion powder, lemon juice, fresh dill
As far as my go-to is a Fried Chicken sandwich . it would revolve around buttermilk soaked chicken topped with pickles and cole slaw on a grilled bun.
A good example Fried Chicken Sandwich
How about making the chicken into chicken salad with some veggies, mayo and a little bit of curry powder or cumin? On toast with lettuce and tomato.
@janbb nom nom on a good curried chicken salad!
I like quartered grapes and chopped walnuts or pecans, mayo, and definitely celery. Love me some celery!
Pickles. Either dill slices on the sandwich or the long ones on the side.
I’d do an orange chicken or lemon chicken, sauteed onions with garlic, and chipotle mayo on toasted rye.
I’m drooling. And all I have to eat is a sirloin steak. And a baked potatoe. Woe is me.
