Will you be putting up a Christmas tree?

Last year we didn’t. Covid kept us from company coming over.
This year, with vaccines and better Covid numbers, there is a better chance we will have visitors, but I still don’t expect it.
Is having company a requirement for having a tree up?

We had Christmas house lights up last year, figuring people will still drive by.
I will not be putting up any decorations.
Never have, never will.
Nein!
Yes, absolutely. Not for company but for my small family. I wasn’t going to last year as covid took so much away. But I’m glad I did! It made me smile and my cat had the best time batting the ornaments1
Yes, always a tree for ambiance.
No. Haven’t put up a tree in years.
My living room is gloomy, so I have my little tabletop 3’ tree up and lit all year round. At the moment, it’s got dog decorations. Closer to the time I’ll switch out the decorations for something more festive and seasonal.
I’ll be kind of excited to see if a tree would fit better in the new house tho. Maybe next year. At the moment I’m just thrilled to have a toilet in the house.
Absolutely! Every year.
We had a fake tree for years, then switched to a real tree for the past ten years or so. This year, we went back to fake and got a really nice one from the Balsam Hill people. They’ve really come a long way. Very natural looking and the LED lights are great.
I probably won’t be getting visitors but I will put up a Christmas tree as I have done for the last 40 odd years. It also looks good in the background of a Zoom call.
I’ve got a Norfolk Pine that will be decorated in the living room, front porch will getting garland and lights.
Yes
In my opinion It’s not Christmas without a tree.
Everybody is entitled to their choices.
Having said it, I’m a little suspicious of people who don’t put up a tree in the West.
It’s not a religious symbol, it’s just part of a fun time of the year that many people enjoy one way or the other.
On the other hand, if you hate Christmas, well too bad for you. I think you’re missing something
Yes. With grand children in the house, it’s just a part of the holidays. Usually do it on the first weekend in December. Take it down on New Years Day.
I may put up a small, tabletop tree.
@jca2 Wish we could just do that! My grandma always did that at her house, and we were happy with it. But my grands insist on having a full size tree.
Yes.
I embrace all pagan and Christian holiday traditions – As long as they’re fun, and involve decorations & alcohol.
Or sex.
Joyous Saturnalia to All.
No. My house is too small for a tree. But I will set out my large Christmas popcorn tin…

We opted for a Norfolk Island Pine several years ago. It was a one-time cost for the tree, is kept in the living room year-round, and it gets decorated with small bobbles at Christmas.
Yes. My practice of tagging a tree in the field next week and then cutting it a week or so after Thanksgiving has not changed.
I bought a very nice, pre lit tree. After I took off the decorations, I left it in the hall for the rest of the year. I will be putting decorations on it the weekend after Thanksgiving. I have been turning the lights on for birthdays.
Over the years pared down the Christmas decorating.
First year tree up with lots of ornaments !
Gave those to the thrift shopr for others that couldn’t afford nice ornaments( collections).
Then the next years made a winter Christmas scene in a used Aquarium.( used miniature animals ( Deer, Bear,Elk, Bird, Rabbit and so on).
Then pared down to string of ambient blue lights over omy bookshelves with Christmas cards…gave off a nice tranquil vibe.
Created small scenes in glass bottles or a vace as found at thrift shops.
Then because storage became a big problem, pared that down to string of lights on bookshelves /crds etc and added a decorated apartment door as others do here.
( some are competitive).
It is fun recreating different scenes on my door..was thinking of making Covid ornaments using styrofoam balls and red Golf Tees for somthing to signify last two years over., but might just have one on it instead of several.
I have seen ornaments of pandemic masks and or TP mini rolls crafted. ..so funny.
One in partcular is a partial tree side view on one side and the Grinch’s hand holding an ornament ( if I use this idea will replace the re ornament with the Covid ornament)
Here is link to simular idea suing the grinch theme.

@Inspired_2write: Another easy ornament is taking clothes pins – the kind that are one piece of wood, not the kind with a spring, and gluing three together and putting on a pom pom tail or cotton puff tail and googly eyes, and a string to make reindeer ornaments.
I’m down to one giant, beautiful wreath that came from my mom. I hang it above the fire place and put a handful of my most precious ornaments on.
I have a few other decorations but they’re super simple to put up and take down.
When I did do a tree I strive for an elegant look. Rick, on the other hand…sigh.
Once I was sitting on the couch beside my elegant Christmas tree. I saw a flashing red light out of the corner of my eye.
Upon closer inspection I realized someone had hung an ornament of the USS Enterprise on my elegant tree and it had a flashing red light on the front! AHHHHH!!!!!
LMAO @Dutchess_III He was just getting in the holiday spirit, E for effort.
I don’t put a tree up for possible company. I put it up for myself and for my immediate family.
If I lived alone I’d still put up a tree.
We have one ornament up so far, jack in the box with a Covid mask.
We moved our decorations with us across country this year, but not our tree. I’ll consider getting a live or another fake tree. We are probably going above and beyond with any celebration for the past ~20 months. Company definitely has nothing to do with whether we put up a tree, but having kids at home does.
Not enough room in the apartment for a tree, but we decorate with lights and lots of other seasonal doodads – after all the Halloween and Thanksgiving decorations come down!
Nope. Never have. I will be driving through the neighborhoods to see decorations, and every recreation center where I live (I think there are around 50) has at least one tree, each decorated differently, so I get to see those when I do my activities. I was just at Disney and decorations are up.
