(I guess shouting “Fly away home” didn’t work?)

Nope. I don’t usually see ladybugs here actually. I wonder if we have them.

In the Seattle days we once had n infestation in my house. They were really quite benign, and, well, it was cute. They hung around for about a week and then jus left one day.

I’m fairly certain 90% of the ladybug population of Massachusetts originated from my house. My daughter’s old bedroom seem to have the most. We moved into the house 5 years ago, and the population has been with us since.

I just saw a notice on our community Facebook page, I haven’t been plagued at my house, but they are many in my town.

Not this year but we have a lot of stink bugs.

I saw one ladybug the other day, in my bedroom. Other than that, I have not seen any inside or outside. I do see an occasional stink bug in the house, and a few here and there outside, but not a crazy amount.

They typically want to find a warm place to winter. They’ll pick one or two places in an area the size of a small neighborhood and all cluster together. Ladybugs are a good critter to have in the summer but stink bugs are not, they’re invasive.

Lady bugs are GOOD bugs! You must have a lot of aphids around because that is what lady bugs eat.

Gee thanks at @kritiper. (eye roll) Now I’m really paranoid!

Lady bugs are GOOD bugs!

There’s a different kind of ladybug besides the cute garden ones. It seems to me they arrived in the midwest 10 or 15 years ago. I don’t remember ladybugs being a pest in the house before that.

They are a duller red than garden ladybugs, but otherwise look the same. They don’t bite , they’re just annoying by their persistence and numbers.

I have had quite a few ladybugs visit recently. I love them, though, and they eat aphids and do nothing I don’t want them to, so I only mind if they’re getting in trouble. I found some recently gathered together for the night and had a cute attack. Also when there are two of them exploring a handrail in opposite directions and they just pass each other and keep going.

I don’t make an effort to “get rid” of them except when they get inside and I think they’d do better outside. Then I offer them a piece of paper or a twig or something to ride on, and take them outside.

Are you in one of the red zones?
drought —> aphids —> ladybugs

That’s my guess anyway. Have heard from a lot of people that there seemed to be more aphids than usual this year. Makes sense that would follow with more ladybugs.

I’m in the white zone that says none. Hmm.

I love lady bugs! It wouldn’t bother me a bit to have them in my house.
They eat aphids off of house plants.

They could be the invasive Asian Lady Beetle, which is NOT our beloved lady bug! They’re nasty.

“Even though Asian lady beetles look like ladybugs, they sure don’t act like them! First and foremost, ladybugs don’t sneak into your home the way Asian lady beetles do. While ladybugs overwinter in sheltered sites outdoors, Asian lady beetles often enter homes.

If you notice the bugs congregating in or around your home in fall or winter, they’re probably Asian lady beetles. So, if you think you need ladybug pest control, you actually need Asian lady beetle pest control services.” https://plunketts.net/blog/ladybugs-vs-asian-lady-beetles

And they bite! https://www.rd.com/article/asian-lady-beetles/

Not so much this year because I’m living in a more urban area, but we usually have tons of ladybugs and/or stink bugs/western conifer seed bugs.
They all freak me out and sometimes give me panic attacks if they touch me unexpectedly, so it’s not a fun time haha

Dutchess_III's avatar

Bugs don’t bug me. I don’t understand why a harmless spider or bug would send someone insane.

chyna's avatar

^Well, I’m kind of insane anyway,so….
