Do you listen to the radio?

I always have it on in the car. I listen to NPR which is a public radio station. Mainly news and commentary but some music and arts programming as well.

Terrestrial Radio for NPR. Thats it. I listen to Satellite radio since 2005

When in the US, I listen to NPR (National Public Radio). In the UK, we have an internet radio in our kitchen, so there are a variety of stations we’ve chosen: Beatles, French, local, national, and some Chicago station.

As for when, it varies from day to day.

In the car, I usually listen to classic rock stations (CT or NY – I have a great choice). Sometimes I listen to R&B or what’s called “oldies” which is now music from the 70’s to the 90’s.

I also listen to NPR, especially if I’m taking a ride to a rural area, I like to hear different music to go with the environment, like maybe bluegrass or folk or something obscure. I also will listen to NPR for talk radio and “The Moth” which is where people tell personal stories on stage for an audience.

Dave Ramsey show. News. Calgary 1060 humor. Instrumental music. Sometimes NHL hockey. Quirks and Quarks on CBC.

Only Klassik Radio.

Satellite – - jazz and classical. FM local – - oldies from 1960 to 1980.

I do indeed. NPR stations. I listen to classical almost everyday and I love the Saturday programming too. My radio picks up stations far and wide and I don’t even know where the station is located that I listen to. I haven’t touched the dial in years. I do not listen to NPR news.

The good thing about listening to the radio, as opposed to listening to Spotify or Pandora or Apple Music or other music app, is that if there’s some breaking news, big disaster, or other extraordinary thing that is broadcast, newscasters will cut in to a music station and talk about the news, whereas when you listen to a streaming app, it’s like you’re cut off.

@jca2 Sometimes being cut off from “breaking news” is the best thing about streaming services.

I listen to my radio in the car. It’s nice to know about wrecks or other obstacles on my way to and from work.

I would agree with you, @janbb, except when I get news and tell people, they’re always like “OMG, I didn’t know. I haven’t listened to the radio or looked at the news all day.” I think of things like 9/11 and how, if you were cut off, it would really be detrimental.

No, usually listen to music CDs in my car. That way I can play whatever I want.

I listen to my iPod, except when I want Big Band music from the 40’s. Then I listen to that on Sirius (Dish channel 6073).
Usually, around Thanksgiving, they change programming to Christmas music.

Yes, in the truck. Easy listening 70’s & 80’s rock.

@jca2 We don’t need to read the news more than once a day. Any more has a negative effect which you can see by looking around just listening to people talk. There is a lot of life to live.

Satellite radio…occasionally. Originally subscribed when Howard Stern left traditional radio. Now I to listen 60s, 70s classic rock and soul. Every now and then I tune into Joe Madison’s perspective on news from a Black perspective.

Mostly I prefer the music I’ve downloaded to my cell phone.
