Do you have any suggestions on improving grade school education?

Asked by RedDeerGuy1 (24945points) November 18th, 2021

Like funding education to grade 14 or higher and free Kindergarten?

I had jr. Kindergarten, kindergarten, and $14 summer school in grade 12.

I would have liked to have more say over my education instead of picking options (music, art, second language)

High school I was more free to take anything that I wanted within reason, in my last year. I loved taking psychology and drama.

Humor and legit answers welcome.

Increase teacher pay and school funding. Ending steaming is a good thing too. There are probably tweaks that need to be made regularly to cirriculum to keep it globally competitive, but a lot of the stucture is fine.

I’d make sure there are resources and efforts to help kids who fall between the cracks for various reasons. Class biases and stereotyping can strongly affect individual outcomes.

The concept of isomorphism should be taught in high school math classes, simply because it is such a beautiful idea and so pervasive in mathematics.

Here is a rough idea of how it works using a simple example. Suppose you want to multiply two roman numerals. The way most of us would do this would be to convert both roman numerals to decimals, multiply the decimals, and convert the answer to a roman numeral.

Now consider using logarithms to do a multiplication. Convert both numbers to their logs, add the two logs, and covert in the reverse direction. It is the same pattern: convert, perform an operation in the converted realm, and do a reverse conversion.

I have a Web page on the subject.

Get rid of desks in a row. Children learn better when they work together at round tables, lounge areas, or on the floor.
