Does your region have toll free nurse advice?
In my province of Alberta you can call a nurse toll free ‘24/7’ (811), for advice. It helps to keep filling up emergency services and hospitals and doctors waiting rooms.
Also would it save resources to open doctors offices for non-emergencies open 24/7? Has it been tried?
Humor and serious answers welcome.

Don’t know about regional, but one hospital conglomerate in the Austin area has that. You can call them for a symptom or ailment and get advice on what it could possibly be. Then advice whether they fell it is ER/Hospital worthy. We have taken advantage of it a few times.
Yes, we have that service here in Sacramento, and my family has a nurse call through our Kaiser membership.
We have two free numbers; 111 for cuts, and burns, suspected broken bones, sprains and other injuries and illnesses and 999 for life threatening emergencies.
Since the US does not have publlic health insurance, services like “call a nurse” are all supported by priate health insurance companies. My insurer has that service.
As to “round the clock” doctor’s offices, there have been various after hours clinics; but most of them have not survived being open all night. I took my son to one when he was 11 months old because of a fistula. The urgent care ouldn’t resolve it and he had to go to the ER the next day.
I had a post operative wound that needed attention back in December, and the local urgent care sent me to an ER.
I keep reading this as “Does your religion have toll free nurse advice?”
I am in the UK and feel quite fortunate to have the NHS to phone any time. I also have private medical insurance and I believe we have doctors on call 24/7 to talk or to text. I don’t do any of it though I avoid doctors!
