Do you use a facial moisturizing product that you would recommend?

Asked by Jeruba (56106points) November 26th, 2021

My skin has gotten dry with age. I’d like to use a good moisturizer, but it’s pretty hard to tell from ads or displays which would be the best choice. Any recommendations?

Thank you.

I use Perricone MD Face Finishing & Firming Moisturizer. It’s a bit pricey but a little goes a long way and it’s totally worth it. It’s the only moisturizer I’ve used that I only need to apply once during the day.

I was out in 20 degree weather today and my skin still feels soft.

I used Clinique products for many years. Eventually, after reading the ingredients, changed to cheaper/better products. I love Pond’s moisturizing cream.

I use Paula’s Choice products. I like that years ago when the beauty product industry was mostly about lying to their customers, Paula did/had research done and told the truth about products, where they come from, what works, what doesn’t. I also like that they have many products that are individualized for your type of skin, and you can look up issues you want to address. They also don’t test on animals. I do have issues about the frequency of their emails – several daily – but I can deal with that.

As weird and common and old fashioned as it is, I still use Oil of Olay, and I am still very satisfied with it.

I like Neutrogena products. I use a moisturizer with SPF and “hydro boost” twice a week which helps slough off dead skin cells.

Everyone’s skin type is slightly different, and age just adds another wrinkle to the equation ( I know. I couldn’t help myself).

Lots of good recommendations here, and I’d only add two more:
*Affodable & available in almost any drugstore -
CeraVe Face Moisturizer
https://www.cerave.com/skincare/moisturizers/ultra-light-moisturizing-lotion-spf-30

* Natural ingredients & amazing results -
Burt’s Bees Body Lotion With Cocoa and Cupuacu Butter
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Burt-s-Bees-Body-Lotion-Dry-Cocoa-and-Cupuacu-Butter-6-oz/16617760

Salons pay me to try out & recommend different products, but neither of guys have offered me a dime and their stuff is among the best I’ve used.

Thanks, all. Sounds like a lot of good choices where I wouldn’t go wrong.

@JLoon, is the Burt’s Bees product ok for facial application?

The stuff in the link I posted is a great body lotion, not specially formulated for facial but I’ve used it on my face after being at the beach or out in snow all day.

Burt’s does makes a couple really good moisturizing face creams though. I like these :

Burt’s Bees Radience Day Cream With Royal Jelly -

Burt’s Bees Truly Glowing Gel Cream -
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08MBHKJW8/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_navT_g_7RD1R9JH8J7SXDXBDE9Q

Get either one at Walgreens, Kohls, or elsewhere for easy $.

Mad Hippie
This stuff is excellent. It’s also vegan and cruelty free.

Juice Beauty
This whole line is excellent but a little pricey. It is also vegan and cruelty free.

Please, please, please consider not using a product tested on animals. It’s unnecessary cruelty for the sake of vanity. Making it vegan in a great extra step. :)

@tinyfaery, thank you. Which product do you prefer for facial moisturizer? For some obscure biographical reason, Mad Hippie appeals to me. I can’t tell from the descriptions which that would be.

I’m perfectly happy to avoid animal-tested products. Thanks for pointing that out.

I think I actually prefer the Mad Hippie moisturizer, but if you’re looking for a serum the one from that line of Juice Beauty is excellent.
