How are you celebrating the holidays this year?

Asked by Hawaii_Jake (37748points) December 11th, 2021

I’M HAVING A XMAS PARTY! I have one every year at which we decorate my tree. It was, of course, canceled last year. Covid is under control at the moment here in these islands, so I decided to go ahead with a party this year. All my guests are vaccinated. I know some have had the booster. All the windows will be open.

I spent 2 days cleaning the house. I let many cleaning details go during the pandemic. I was lazy. My house is now very clean, and I’m happy.

I’ve got cheeses and crackers and cookies. I’m going to make mulled apple cider, and I found all the spices for it. I’ve got egg nog. The guests are bringing pupus to share.

I’M SO EXCITED!

What are you doing for the holidays?

I’m chugging name brand cola. Adding stuff to my Amazon wish lists. Napping for fun. Trying out my new pillows. Trying every pot roast beef dinners from Skip the Dishes.

Same as always, even pre Covid. Off work so I’ll stay home with wife and grand kids, open packages, do the Santa Claus thing for the younger kiddies, and just try to stay off of the roads and chill. Ditto New Years Eve and New Years Day. We haven’t gone out to a holiday party in years anyway. Since both of us are retired there is no pressure for that. Maybe call or text a few siblings and Cuzes with the Yo Ho Ho and Bah Humbug routine and that’ll do it. Probably going to be moving after the first of the year anyway, so there’s that as well. Can’t afford to go hog wild this year.

No, but I never do. I did Chanukah a couple weeks ago. I’ll take some days off because – well, I have lots of vacation time saved up. But other than football and reading, there are no holiday rituals to speak of.

In a wreck.

Go to daughter’s; two hour drive one way, I’ll bring wine and maybe some Horderves/Appetizers. Three grandsons, everybody is vaccinated.

For Chanukah I performed at the local Chanukah celebration (Israeli circle dances) over 600 people showed up! Otherwise, nothing else except lighting my Menorah.

As far as I know all we are doing for Christmas is eating at home and I will make one of the typical dishes my husband’s mom usually makes for Christmas. It’s possible my husband might suddenly change his mind and want to go to see his family, we’ll see.

I will have sonny, his wife, her mother and the two boys over for dinner. I am roasting the turkey we got for free with coupons, and all the various fixings. The new set of dining chairs I got are really comfortable. We will enjoy the tree, which I am decorating tonight, and open our presents. I also have Sparkling grape drinks and a very special wine I picked up at a winery last summer.

We will probably take the kids around town to look at all of the Christmas lights as well. Probably at some point during the holiday break.

Like you I’m going to give my flat a thorough cleaning as my daughter is coming up for Christmas. I’ve already put the tree up and placed the presents at its foot. We’ll take a Covid test before meeting up and we plan to just chill out on Christmas Day with a nice meal.

Similar to Thanksgiving, we’re having about fifteen folks over for dinner and a country swap grab. Some different people this time around though, which is nice.

For Christmas Eve, we actually got invited to a friend’s house, which is amazing! We’ve been invited somewhere for a holiday maybe three times in 25-years, so it’ll be nice.

Everybody’s vaccinated and sane. Well…one out of two at least.
