How to avoid getting COVID in an air-conditioned office building?

Asked by BeeePollen (422points) December 18th, 2021

I work in an office in a building with central air. I leave the office door closed when I am inside, and no one else comes in. I don’t know much about the ventilation in the building, other than that it is a “normal US office building,” built sometime during the past 20 years, in the northern half of the US, during winter.

- Should I put something over my AC vent (i.e. a filter or something to block it entirely)? Why or why not?

- Are there any easy other actions I can take to reduce risk (other than wearing a mask or not going into the office)?

- Does the answer change based on how much the AC is pulling in air from outside the building versus just recirculating it throughout the building?

I don’t know about how to prevent a virus from circulating in an office building, but you could try using an air cleaner with an ultra-violet light on it. Ultra violet rays do kill viruses and bacteria.

Whatever else you do, I suggest you invest in immune support that you can take long term. zinc, vitamin C and vitamin D are a good start. PM me for more info.

Best wishes to you.

Get vaccinated with a booster. Wear a mask. Consider getting a HEPA filter for your office. Good luck!

Using a air filter will help.

I’ve never stopped working in an office building with AC and no one has caught COVID from being in the building. Jus follow the precautions and hope for the best.
