Are Covid, or supply chain shortages, bad enough to spend a year or so in one's doomsday shelter?
Has anyone done that? Or does it need to be much worse before we hunker down underground?

No. I think the more a person retreats from other humans, the more comfortable they are being alone and the more uncomfortable they feel with other people.
I’ll never resort to that. Onward thru the fog. Keep on truckin’! But in the event of some Zombie Apocalypse, I might rethink that.
Seems like a stupid idea. You would exhaust your emergency doomsday supplies, without any guarantee that the supply would be better (and the coronovirus gone) when you emerged from the shelter.
Seems like a stupid approach.
A better option is to come out and get vaccinated.
