How long after your get disgusted from a meal do you try again?

Asked by RedDeerGuy1 (24945points) December 27th, 2021

Either while still hungry? Or to try a fresh batch from the store?

For example when I get a mouthful of expired avocado It might take me up to a year to try another one. Also I was disgusted with freezer burnt pizza pops today and am waiting for it to pass before making spaghetti and Classico bolenese sauce today.

Everything is wonky to me. Nothing tastes right. As long as I don’t throw up I’ll try it again soon.

Spaghetti and Classico bolenese sauce with ground hamburger was ok.

As a very young woman I got deathly ill after eating a submarine sandwich made from cold meat and cheese (it was a gall bladder problem). I haven’t enjoyed them since, and I avoid them when I can,, but I have eaten them once in a while.

When I was a kid, my mother would often make a ‘curry’ with the remains of the Sunday joint. Pretty much a kind of gravy with curry powder, a chopped apple, some raisins, and the diced meat. They wouldn’t have passed muster with anybody from the sub-continent, but they were tasty enough and my father liked them. Then she made one, and I don’t know what she did with it but it was truly awful. We ate it, but it was a struggle. Maybe my father said something, but she never made another. I couldn’t face one after that, until I started college in the mid-70s. I went, with some trepidation, to an Indian restaurant with some fellow students, and I was blown away. I love Indian food now. Lamb tikka Vindaloo, garlic pilau, nothing better.

Chipped beef in cheese sauce over toast totally disgusted me as a kid. SOS. It made me gag.
The whole family knew it..
When I was about 12 Dad thought it would be funny to tell what SOS stood for as I was trying to choke it down.
I dropped my fork and look at him in dismay.
He laughed and laughed!
I have never had it since.

@Dutchess_III What is ‘chipped beef’? I’ve heard of it, but I don’t know what it is.

It’s some kind of nasty slivers of corned beef that comes in a jar. Whenever I came home and saw that jar I ran away from home for a year.
