When do you think the pandemic will end?

I believe it will be a long time. At least until science comes up with something better than vaccines. I am thinking that with our yearly flu shots that we will have yearly Covid shots for years.

A long time, you’ll need all the anti-vaxxers to get vaccinated !

Because they don’t seem to be in any kind of hurry to change their mind and get vaccinated.

It will persist in some form.

When schools start requiring covid vaccinations for enrollment, just as they do for MMR, diphtheria, etc., won’t that change the picture?

It will end sooner once we start vaccinating the world’s population in earnest. Until then the possibility of a new mutation emerging among the billions of the unvaccinated is very real.

I’m thinking sooner rather than later.

I mean, the cascading effects of the pandemic will define a generation, but the pandemic will hopefully subside as third shots go in, kids get shots, and omicron burns through available
victims. The immunity rates, whether from vaccination or infection do keep climbing, and we’ve got to be nearing R <1

I unfortunately believe that this virus will be around for many years, possibly as long as the flu virus.

It will take a superhuman effort to come up with a vaccination which will protect everyone from contracting Covid in the first place.

I hope I am wrong.

Perhaps a better way of putting it is that the pandemic will end when what we call pandemic conditions become the normal state of events. It’s hard to wrap my mind around, but I do not think it’s going away.

Not with anti-vaxxers it sure wont go away.^^^

Originally I heard 5–7 years so until I hear otherwise, I’m planning on that.

This year.

After summer 2022 I think it dies way down to a dull roar. People will still be getting sick and even dying, but hospitalizations and deaths in much much lower numbers.

Two big surges coming. One about to start now (March) and again in the summer (late June, July, August) and then it dies down not nearly as bad in December as last year.

That’s been my guess for a while. We’ll see.

I think we still will be taking some measure beyond that to prevent spread. I hope so. I hope flu season we continue to mask more and mask on planes.
