What is the best snack food that your country has that another country doesn't have?

Asked by RedDeerGuy1 (24945points) December 29th, 2021

For example:
In Canada we have ketchup potato chips, and Kinder Surprise chocolate eggs with a prize inside. I was told by a friend that the US doesn’t have either one. Is that true?

Please add to the list.

Humor welcome.

Also what favorite snack can you not get where you live?

I usually put pineapples on my pizza. We call it a Hawaiian pizza. It comes with ham slices.

Sweet soup. “Sweet soup” is only a loose translation, because the word for it (chè) is just so unique that there is no English equivalent. “Sweet soup” also doesn’t encompass all what this food really means.

It’s very hard for me to explain what this food is because there are just so many variants of it. The things they all have in common is that they are sweet, they involve fruits, corns, sweet potatoes and the like somehow, and they are all in liquid. This is one thing you just have to see for yourself.

We have Zweigel’s White Hots. The term “white hot” does not mean they are hot or spicy. It means they are white hot dogs made from pork. In Rochester NY, everyone over the age of 4 including vegans, Buddhists, Hindus, and hermits living in vans down by the river know about these.

@RedDeerGuy1 You didn’t mention that classic Candian favorite, poutine.

You can get Kinder Joy eggs in the US, too.

I think a Vienna Beef Chicago style hot dog is only found in the US. And White Castle sliders.

Oh, and a Tommy’s World Famous triple chili cheeseburger can only be found in Southern California. But they are worth the drive.

Wondering if cheese curds, battered and fried cheese chunks, are uniquely American. I’m sure there are variations on fried cheese, but not like this Midwest fair food. Salty, crispy, chewy goodness.

@zenvelo Kinder Joy eggs are different to Kinder surprise eggs. Kinder surprise are (or at least were) banned in the US as they contain a plastic toy in the centre so are considered dangerous. This causes no end of amusement to the rest of the world given the easy access children have to guns in the US.

We have ketchup potato chips in the US, sorry. I would say nachos, but I’m sure other countries have those.

See’s candy has shops mostly West of the Mississippi, mostly. There is a shop in Tennessee and Wisconsin, but nothing on the East Coast, and only a couple in other countries.

I can order pineapple pizza 24 / 7. I order it with out the ham. I started ordering veggie lovers with pineapple. YUM! But I imagine you can get that in any country.

@filmfann I can remember going to See’s on S La Cienega Blvd, Los Angeles that was over sixty-five years ago.

We make “meat pie” in the USA.

I can’t see how any other country would deep fry an Oreo or Twinkie. It seems so American.

Prove me wrong.

We also deep fry bacon, butter, tacos and pickles. We deep fry anything, then we put ranch on it.

Scotland deep fries mars bars.
