Are there ever days where there is precepitation in all 48 contiguous states on the same day?

It seems like today (1/1) might be a contender – I looked at the weather maps, and it looks like almost everywhere is getting either snow or rain.

I wonder if there’s proof of rain/snow covering the whole earth for a prolonged period.

So far where I am it is sunny and gorgeous. Doesn’t feel like it’s going to rain today. Do you mean precipitation in at least some part of the state in all states during the 24 hour period of 12am to 11:59pm?

I took my one and only cruise several years ago. Went down to the Caribbean. While we were on that jaunt, they passed the news that it was an unusual day because there was snow in all 50 states. I didn’t see the weather and have a hard time believing snow in Hawaii, but that was what they were saying.

^^It snows in Hawaii, it just did recently and made the news, but it was pointed out it isn’t that unusual. I doubt it was snowing in all 50 states all at once though.

I just looked it up. it did happen

@seawulf575 It says snow on the ground on your link. I was thinking all 50 states had active snowfall. What do you think?

@JLeslie I dunno. If they had snow on the ground, it had to fall. When it fell might be the question. I know it was one of those freak arctic blasts that hammered the country so it could be either way.

I remember that occurring because it was in the local news and it snowed that day in Hawaii above 10,000 feet. And snow did fall in all fifty states that day.

One of the weird things about 9/11/2001 was that it was a beautiful cloud free day from coast to coast, people remarked on how crystal clear it was.
