Why would a product I ordered from Amazon be unable to be shipped to my address?

Asked by Dutchess_III (47126points) January 2nd, 2022

I added some hair mousse to my order. When I check out it comes up with a flag that it can’t ship to my address.
Apparently everything else can ship though.
Anyone know why?

I’m not sure, but sometimes they don’t deliver to post office boxes. My second guess is that they don’t ship liquids, due to safety concerns.

I had my phsical address and my PO Box listed.

Why would Amazon advertise products that they can’t ship?

@Dutchess_III Another guess is that customs won’t allow it to be shipped. Is your mousse ordered from another country?

I would ask customer service for help.
Sorry for your frustration.

It’s no big deal. It was just curious.

I looked again. You were spot on. It can’t be delivered to a PO Box because it’s considered a hazardous item.
Guess the algorithm saw PO Box and went brain dead and didn’t pick up on my physical address.

@Dutchess_III: Take out your PO Box since you have a physical address, and see how that works.

It would work, of course. But USPS doesn’t deliver mail to this block so I have to have a PO Box. Post Office lady gets snarky if USPS drops something off there and it doesn’t have the PO Box number.
99% of the time Amazon ships UPS or Fed Ex to our front porch, but the other day they shipped USPS. It didn’t have the PO Box number. Lady wasn’t happy.
Not worth the hassle of trying to
second guess who they’re going to ship with.
I’ll touch base with Amazon customer service tho.

So weird. I ordered a different kind of mousse just to see. This one popped up with my physical address and said it couldn’t ship to the address because it’s hazardous material.
Why would they even advertise a product they can’t ship?
Any one else want to give it a go? Order hair spray or deodorant, see what happens.

Maybe it’s pressurized with flammable gas. That’s the only restriction I know of. Try a pump spray hair product.

Na. I’ll just get it next time I go to the store.
