Should I try to find a band to record with or keep doing everything myself?
I write and record my own songs. I play and sing everything myself so it is very time consuming. I don’t play live anymore & I don’t know if I should put a band together just to record.

How about learning to use softwares like Vocaloid? Many solo artists use them as a substitute for real singers. And all they need is a computer.
I think you should continue to use your own creative concepts. Since you write your own songs, you have a general idea how you see those songs playing out (no pun intended). If you bring in a band, you will be receiving input from others who don’t share your vision. You could lose sight of your own vision and eventually lose your creative control. Plus, I bet you won’t get much for a band who just want to be your backup. They are going to want to play live and work toward getting a recording contract. They aren’t going to want to work for free that’s for sure.
I think you have a sweet arrangement right now and although it may be very time consuming, you have total control over the outcome. You might want to check into some modern apps that will help to fill in the gaps on how hard you need to work to achieve the same outcome. There’s a youtube channel where the guy goes out to a local park, he sings a few of his own songs; and after a crowd gathers, he takes requests from the audience as to what he sings next. His keyboard has an excellent rhythm selection; so as he sings, it sounds more like he has a band behind him. I’ve never heard him share the type of rhythm software that he uses, but he sounds like a lead singer of his own band and he’s just one guy performing. Of course, he has a tip container available to anyone who appreciates his work. At the end of the day, all the tips goes into his pocket without having to split it with anyone who doesn’t share his vision.
I know you said that you no longer do live performances. You could still get similar results and have a backup band without the hassle of having an actual band. Good luck as you continue to evolve and expand your talent
Think about how time consuming it would be to train a backup band. Then you have to deal with their wanting a slice of your pie too.
If you listen to my songs you’ll see most of them are simple enough to learn. It wouldn’t take a lot of training for most musicians with maybe slightly above abilities. But I do understand what you mean. Finding the right people might take longer than doing it myself.
Some recording studios have a “house band” but you’ll have to have all the music written out for the different instruments.
Go for it, what have you got to lose? Even if you come out a one hit wonder you could still be millions of dollars richer.
