Studios like Amazon and Netflix finance and produce lots of recycled concepts anyway so why not McFarlane’s Spawn?

They must not think there is a market for it. It takes millions to produce this sort of thing, and the studios generally want to make a profit.
Someone, somewhere ran the numbers and decided it wouldn’t pay off.
It’s okay. Todd makes plenty of money off of toys these days.
I see there is a neww Spawn movie being developed, with Jamie Foxx and Jeremy Renner. Probably a couple years away.
McFarland will write and direct.
^^Yes. I’ve seen that. I feel a Spawn film should have happened already, earlier when Marvel and DC were doing their franchise runs between 2003–2015 and thereabouts.
Maybe it’s precisely because financiers thought Marvel and DC’s movies were already too dominant saturating the market, hence characters like Spawn were ignored.
Or maybe MacFarlane have gotten offers but his condition of being director and writer weren’t agreeable to whoever’s offering to finance.
