Have any of you heard of the "Birds Aren't Real" movement?

Apparently it is a growing thing with generation Z, the supposition being that our government has since sometime in the 60s been exterminating our birds by the billions and replacing them with drone bird substitutes. I’ve been wondering how proponents of such a notion explain all that fried chicken and cartons of eggs I devour. And then there’s the pigeons! Can you imagine what the Federal budget would look like to field THAT many drones?

It’s a conspiracy theory parody. But also a kind of study in how quickly misinformation travels.
I never heard this before. However, I remember my brother killing a lot of birds when we were young.
Why? My Mother caught him doing something bad. He asked how she found out, and she said “a little birdie told me!”, which began the local bird holocaust.
It’s indeed a parody, and an experiment.
Sadly, even for this conspiracy some people fall.
That it’s a parody is pretty obvious and the kids seem almost unanimously to relish in the joke for its sheer absurdity. But you must marvel at the creativity behind it and wonder if the other more dangerous crackpots get the point.
@filmfann Did he turn out to be a psychopath?
I’ve definately read it online and social media.
@KNOWITALL Not a psychopath, but definitely not someone you want to mess with.
Yes, but the point if it is wayyyyyy too subtle to affect the reality deniers.
Ran it by my Gen Z daughter. She said, “What?! That’s so stupid. Who believes that crap?”
I heard of that, and I thought it was supposed to be some kind of thought experiment about what constitutes reality, kind of similar to that Chinese philosopher’s quote about whether he was a man dreaming of a butterfly or a butterfly looking at a sleeping man.
I didn’t know some people take it seriously and out of context like that.
You know, I have a window right next to where I sit. Several times I have seen a hummingbird hover at the center, and watch me.
Maybe some aren’t real?
