Can you link me to the direct quote?
I’ve been too busy to pay attention to news the past few weeks so I don’t know what Biden has said about his cancer initiative, I only know of it.
What I thought I remembered was Trump saying he’d cure cancer before the 2020 election. Someone shared a link of Biden saying this quote but it wasn’t from a credible source. I’m exhausted at the moment so I’m questioning my memory.
I’m asking in social so you all can take it where you want, but I do hope someone has the correct answer. :)

Biden said he would cure cancer if elected…........and make the hurricanes go away. What a guy!
I do remember Biden talking about cancer and him saying he believes we can find a cure. My perception was he wanted to make it a goal of the US government like the Kennedy promise of landing on the moon.It stayed with me, because of losing his son at such a young age to cancer. I wonder if he periodically checks in with experts on cancer cure progress?
The link the jelly above posted says both Trump and Biden have mentioned curing cancer, and it wouldn’t surprise me if other presidents have mentioned a desire to cure cancer.
@SnipSnip Make the hurricanes go away?
@JLeslie Yes, the context of Biden’s remarks was his son’s death and his desire to move us towards a world without cancer. He didn’t say that he would cure all cancers on the first day of his presidency, just that cancer would be his version of the moonshot. Specifically, his goal is to reduce cancer deaths by 50% over the next 25 years.
“Make the hurricanes go away?”
It’s the newest out of context quote that conservatives are batting around:
“Let me be clear: If you’re in a state where hurricanes often strike—like Florida or the Gulf Coast or into Texas—a vital part of preparing for hurricane season is to get vaccinated now. Everything is more complicated if you’re not vaccinated and a hurricane or a natural disaster hits. If you wind up having to evacuate, if you wind up having to stay in a shelter, you don’t want to add COVID-19 to the list of dangers that you’re going to be confronting.”
The first sentence is being presented as if it’s the whole statement and then being framed as “Biden thinks the vaccine protects you from hurricanes.” It’s just another political lie that most of its believers probably took for granted without bothering to look into it. (And the rest don’t care since it serves their agenda.)
^^Ah, thank you. I had no idea where that hurricane statement came from.
